The function of the Health and Wellness Team is to identify Sangha needs and solicit volunteers when Sangha member care is required. We will also periodically organize informational workshops such as Buddhist practices around death and dying (see end of life resources), legal aspects of care, etc.
Activities include but are not limited to:
- Providing a personalized, compassionate system of support for Sangha members during the joys of health and the challenges of birth, sickness, old age, and death;
- Creating an environment of love and support for our Vajra brothers and sisters by fostering awareness of the needs and challenges that may arise for them in navigating life’s changes.
Services might include:
- Teaching of, and helping with, the rituals around death and dying;
- Providing practical services for the ill such as transportation to medical and personal care appointments;
- Running errands such as grocery shopping and medication pickup;
- Preparing and delivering meals;
- Offering emotional comfort and support;
- Assisting with pet and home care;
- Supplying rides to Sangha meetings and practices;
- Helping to find financial resources.
We also offer opportunities to serve those who do not belong to the Nalandabodhi Colorado Sangha.
We hope that the aspiration of Bodhichitta that leads to commitment will allow each Sangha member to dedicate two hours per month when a call for support is made.
