Interconnected: Embracing Life in Our Global Society
by the 17th Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje.
Weekly, starting June 20 from 10:00 to 11:30

Please join us for a book discussion of Interconnected: Embracing Life in Our Global Society, a book by the 17th Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje.

We’ll explore these questions and more.

  • How do we move our ideas of interconnectedness into action and heart, to make our lives become more fully effective and meaningful?
  • How do we overcome the extreme polarization of society and find ways to be more connected to each other and the world?
  • How do we better appreciate our world and others through understanding and experiencing interconnectedness?
  • As we assume more responsibility for others, how do we feel this not as a burden but something to be encouraged?

The Karmapa shows us how gaining emotional awareness of our connectedness can fundamentally reshape the human race. He then guides us to action, showing step by step how we can change the way we use the earth’s resources and can continue to better our society. He draws connections between such seemingly far-flung issues as consumer culture, loneliness, animal protection, and self-reliance. In the process, he helps us move beyond theory to practical and positive social and ethical change.
